Lee works with individuals on their health insurance needs, specializing in Medicare, individual health and life insurance. As a licensed insurance consultant, Lee’s job is to place our customer’s interests above all else, including Allen’s interests and the insurers’ interests.
A graduate of the University of Maine in Farmington, Lee has lived around the world, was an executive with the American Red Cross and owned a bed and breakfast inn with this wife, Nancie, before starting his insurance career with GHM Agency in in Waterville in 1997 and continuing today as a co-owner at Allen Insurance and Financial.
His current passion is volunteering with his local credit union − a tradition started by his dad. When not at work or volunteering, he’s always up for a family visit to the coast in search of Maine’s best lobster roll.
Sam joined our company in January 2023.
A graduate of Colby-Sawyer College Sam has worked as a self-employed carpenter, home inspector and aquatics director at the Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport. New to the insurance industry, he is looking forward to building a new career as an employee-owner at Allen.
He says: "I like that I can use my experience to provide a critical service to our customers. Having worked for myself, I understand what goes into it and navigating risk is a big part of that. I enjoy working with a group of talented and thoughtful and caring team members, it makes every day more fun and encourages me to be the best I can."
Sam lives in Lincolnville, where outside of work he like to stay busy. He sings and plays guitar in a 10-piece party/dance rock band. He is an avid saltwater fly fisherman and loves getting outside with his family whenever he can to hike, swim or camp.
Greg Karlik joined our company in October 2022 to work with individual and group health insurance clients.
Following a three decades-long career in the television broadcasting industry, since 2019 Greg has been a licensed insurance professional in the individual health insurance market place, helping customers manage and better understand, what, for many, is a stressful decision-making process.
He is a graduate of the University of Vermont and the University of San Francisco, where he earned a Master of Business Administration.
Here at Allen, he plans to provide a consultative service to individuals and small business owners who are seeking guidance on health and benefit solutions.
Greg and his family live in Northport. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, their children and two dogs as well as taking baby steps with home gardening and restarting a long-dormant passion for alpine skiing.
Susan Howland joined our company in September 2022, bringing with her two decades of business leadership experience.
A native of Manchester, Maine, Howland has both a bachelor’s degree (international affairs and economics and a master’s degree (economics) from the University of Maine.
Susan has worked as a senior vice president at credit card company MBNA; chief executive officer at Wayfarer Marine in Camden; chief operating officer at the Pen Bay YMCA and as chief financial officer at Maine Sport in Rockport.
Her focus is working with the employee-owners at Allen Insurance and Financial to help us advance our careers and realize our full potential.
She says: “Creating a positive environment where people are empowered to provide outstanding customer service is exciting work. To have the opportunity to work here at Allen with this fantastic team of employee-owners is truly remarkable. I am absolutely thrilled.”
Susan lives in Camden with her husband, their two children and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys attending her children’s sporting events. She is a runner and an avid basketball fan.
Houston McGuirk joined the personal insurance team at Allen Insurance and Financial in September 2021 and earned her Maine property & casualty insurance license shortly thereafter.
Houston has known and loved Maine for many years, having spent much of her childhood in Spruce Head. She and her family now live in Belmont.
An experienced paralegal before moving to the world of insurance, Houston enjoys knowing that by providing the right insurance products, clients can rest easier in the knowledge that the things that are important to them are protected.
She works with Cale Pickford and Jeremy Pickford to serve the needs of Allen’s Compass clientele.
Taylor joined our company in March 2021 as a receptionist and quickly became our newest licensed Maine property and casualty insurance producer. She has since moved into the business insurance division, where she is an account manager.
Taylor is a native of Cushing, a graduate of Oceanside High School in Rockland and attended the University of Southern Maine. She is happy to be an employee-owner and is looking forward to building her insurance career.
She says: “What I enjoy most about my work is the positive connections and relationships that I get to build with people in our community. I enjoy working with people and problem solving, and here I feel I have the opportunity to combine them, which to me is really gratifying.”
Outside of work, Taylor enjoys spending time with friends and family in the Maine outdoors.
Suzanne Gilbert joined our company in 2020 to help our team provide an extra level of service to our Medicare and individual health insurance clients.
Her previous work experience as a preschool teacher and buyer’s assistant at Reny’s set her up well for the level of care and detail required by her work for Allen.
“I love helping people. It’s that simple,” says Suzanne.
A native of Bremen, Suzanne lives in Damariscotta. When she’s not at work she enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing home improvement or DIY projects, hiking, attending festivals & craft fairs and attending the sporting events of her three grandchildren.
A native of Thomaston, now living in Rockland, Patrick Chamberlin is a graduate of Georges Valley High School and Husson University. Before he was a business insurance professional, he spent 12 years working as a commercial fisherman. He joined our company in May 2019.
As a member of the business insurance team at Allen Insurance and Financial of Camden, Patrick is focused on helping clients with comprehensive risk management strategies. He enjoys his work because he can be outdoors often and has the opportunity to work with people who are at the center of the state's economy – Maine business owners.
Patrick is committed to the continuing education required by the ever-changing insurance industry. In 2021, he earned the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor. He also holds the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist designation.
Patrick's commitment to his community started in high school with his experience as a Eagle Scout in his hometown. Today he is a Rotarian and a member of the Dupont Community Advisory Panel, both in Rockland. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston.
Outside of work, Patrick enjoys hiking, backcountry skiing and any time in or around the water, as well as spending time with his fiancé and their two dogs – Blu, a bulldog, and Chuck, a beagle.
Nikki Castellano joined our company in 2019. A native of Pleasant Valley, N.Y. and graduate of Newbury College in Boston, her work supports the Allen Insurance benefits division staff.
Outside of work, Nikki, who lives with her family in Camden, is active in her community, currently serving as the marketing coordinator for Megunticook Rowing, a Camden organization in which her sons are active.
