You may have heard recently that the State of Maine is instituting a mandatory, state-wide retirement plan program. Beginning in January 2024, all Maine businesses with five (5) employees or more will need to either offer their staff a company sponsored retirement plan (SIMPLE IRA, 401K, etc), or accept the state’s Roth IRA (MERIT) retirement option for their staff.
