The Employee Benefits Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for group clients. The Account Manager will manage the entire enrollment process, employee onboarding, marketing of all insurance benefit lines with numerous carriers, and help to coordinate the workflow for Producers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists Producers in gathering the necessary information, including census information, claims data, and rating information, related to new/existing accounts and submits this information to the various carriers to obtain proposals.
  2. Reviews proposals received from the various carriers and then places these in a formal proposal presentation when needed.
  3. Conducts client presentations in the absence of the Producer when needed.
  4. Fields incoming calls/e-mails from plan stakeholders (e.g., head of human resources, controller, CFO, employee benefits lead), serving as the primary point of contact for clients with service challenges, including billing issues, ID card ordering, online enrollments, and claims.
  5. Completes follow-up on group and voluntary enrollments, including Evidence of Insurability.
  6. Provides training to clients on ZyWave and on-line enrollment software.
  7. Coordinates workflow for the Producer between the clients and insurance carriers, making sure internal tracking spreadsheets are kept up to date.
  8. Executes changes in coverage as requested and needed by customer; assists the Producer in directing a smooth transition from one carrier to another; maintains communication with client and carriers regarding the necessary paperwork.
  9. Responds to all client inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
  10. Ensures agency management software is kept up to date.
  11. Attaches correspondence, agreements, and other pertinent documents within a reasonable timeframe.
  12. Recommends process and service improvements that can be made internally to continually improve our clients’ experience.
  13. Maintains awareness of new developments or changes with the various carriers and new Federal/State laws that may affect how our clients must administer their benefit programs and communicates this information to clients as needed.
  14. Develops and maintains a positive relationship and rapport with each insurance carrier to satisfy our clients’ needs and facilitate the processing of business.
  15. Attends and completes required training sessions and classes for continuing education and certification programs.
  16. Maintains Outlook emails by responding in a timely manner.
  17. Documents all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers.
  18. Working on the Insured Benefit Team requires assisting with the overall workflow of the Insured Benefits Department to ensure all of Allen’s clients are consistently provided outstanding service.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. May act as claims resolution specialist for claims issues on all lines of IBD business.
  2. May act as back up to a Producer with clients and carriers.
  3. Performs other functions as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements:  The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • One to two years of office experience in employee benefit account management strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organized, superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use computer applications and software applications needed for the role.
  • Team player, able to work collaboratively with the Insured Benefits team to achieve high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Self-motivated, able to work both within a team and independently.
  • Flexible mindset and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing business environment.
  • Possess a valid Maine Driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the state of Maine, and on occasion, New England.

 

Education Requirements:  The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but will consider candidates with benefits, HR or administrative experience in lieu of degree.
  • Possess Maine agent’s license in Health and Life or be willing to obtain license.
